FishPointer, the Romanian fishing application is qualified in the BlastOff Finals, a prestigious competition for the best startups in Central and Eastern Europe, Romanian media reported.
Together with eight other startups on 3-rd of June FishPointer will compete for the winning price of 150.000 EUR, investment offered by the Power Angels. Besides the money, the winner will take part in a six-months accelerator program provided by OXO Labs.
Seeking out for international recognition and promoting their services in international projects outside Romania the FishPointer co-founder, George Dragne, sees this competition as a great way to reach this goal faster.
“We have validated the solution by which we built the most dynamic social-interactive map of fishing in Romania. We still have a lot of work to do to meet our main goal: the world map for recreational fishing. The next step is to scale the international project, and the first countries are USA, Canada, UK and Australia. We need EUR 400,000 in the next round and the BlastOff competition can bring us some of the amounts,” said Dragne, start-up.ro reported.
Founded in 2017 in Bucharest, this startup creates and offers a greatest social map for fishing adventures all over the world. Their tool offers the best fishing locations, track personal fishing results and provide and an opportunity to socialize within a preferred fishing community.
According to FishPointer, there are over 150 million fishing enthusiasts with Internet access around the world, and they spend an average of at least 500 EUR per year on trips, tools, gears, boats, baits and licenses. Hence, they believe their business idea will be success story during the competition.
On the other hand, BlastOff is the leading Startup Contest where the best startups are given a chance to pitch their startup idea or project in front of the top VCs of the CEE region.
During this third edition, besides the winning award of 150.000 EUR, four additional awards are also announced: Google Launchpad support, communication coaching support from Impact Works, a six-months creative consultancy from ENGINY and 25.000 USD Microsoft Azure credits for one year provided by Microsoft Hungary.
