Girls in Tech Romania invites enthusiasts and developers, design, product and marketing enthusiasts to the second edition of hacking of good facts and social innovation: Hacking for Humanity Romania 2018. Within the hackathon, developed solutions to social issues related to ecology, autism and natural disasters.
The Hackathon will take place over 2 days, between June 22nd and 24th. It will host over 15 teams of “hackers of the heart” and 3 NGOs who want to better fulfill their social mission using the inventiveness and creativity of the technology: Free Hands, Family Hope Autism and Re: Rise.
The audience is invited to attend the teams’ presentations on Sunday, June 24, starting at 14:30. It will follow the public’s vote for the most popular team, a socializing cocktail and the announcement of the three winning teams. The hackathon prizes amount to more than 10,000 euros . Hacking for Humanity la novel global
Inspired by the wishes and reactions of the members of the community, Girls In Tech decided that it was time to think ahead. With a 10-year experience in organizing hackathons, the organization has created a unique hackathon model where technology combines with social, creativity and inventiveness with good deeds. “We want to solve global problems by acting locally at nongovernmental organizations,” they say.
Girls In Tech is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 in San Francisco by Adriana Gascoigne. Its mission is to encourage technology-driven women to orient their careers to STIM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields. The Romanian chapter is headed by Monica Muntean in October 2014.
