SUMMARY:EESTech Challenge 2018 - Athens
DESCRIPTION:The EESTEC Technology Challenge is a pan-European student contest on Big Data Analysis. \nThe competition is organized by the pan-European\, voluntary\, non-profit\, student organization of Electrical Engineering Students European Association ( EESTEC )\, which is active in the National Technical University of Athens. \nThe EESTech Challenge is aimed at students studying in Universities and Technological Institutions active in the field of Computer Science of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. It encourages them to develop their knowledge in technological matters as well as their teamwork with contestants from all over Europe. \nThe competition takes place in 2 stages\, in the local qualifying rounds and the final round. The qualifying rounds will take place in 24 European cities. Groups of 3 people will compete to claim a seat in the Final Round. The winning teams will meet in Novi Sad in May 2018 to compete once again and to become winning Europe. \nOn Saturday\, March 17th\, the Athens Regional Tournament will take place in the Rector’s Hall of the National Technical University of Athens. \nA prize for the winning team at the Athens Local Tournament is covering the cost of staying and feeding in Novi Sad. \nSo if you are a student (between 18 and 26 years old) with motivation\, high level of technological knowledge and willingness to work with your team\, you have the opportunity to participate in an all-day Hackathon\, implementing the idea of your own team\, solving the problem. \nTo participate in the contest would be desirable to have: \n\nBasic knowledge of databases\, operating systems and distributed systems.\nBasic knowledge of Apache Spark (Spark SQL\, Spark MLlib and Spark GraphX).\nJava or Python or Scala programming languages.\n\nPlease complete the form below by Friday\,  March 9\, 2018. \nThe attendance of participants is compulsory throughout the day\, there is no cost\, and a certificate of participation will be given.
