According to the Marathon VC official site, the aim of the company is to help Greek founders build world-class technology companies that are going to be profoundly successful and change the landscape of the Greek ecosystem.

We aim to bring together everyone who can enable founders to realize their ambitions. We are network builders as well as company builders. Creators of value who are able to see where interests align. We stand for limitless ambition, uncompromising integrity, radical openness and giving back to our community. Marathon is a long-term venture and we are just getting started“, the Marthon team announced on their website.

The inspiration behind the creation of this VC, as one of the founders George Tziralis noted on his Facebook page, is the absolute success of Taxibeat. In fact, the new startups should follow the success of BugSense , the Resin.io, the Workable and of course Taxibeat which are among the 47 companies in which the founders of Marathon VC have invested.

So far this fund has raised 8 million euro from Greek investors all over the world and in the coming months are expected 10 to 15 Seed investments from 500 thousand to 1 million euro, Startupper reported.

According to Tziralis theirs „goal is to make Marathon VC the first institutional investor in the most promising tech companies by Greek founders”.

Reportedly, the Marathon VC will get 15-20% of the company’ s equity and the Startups must have a team and an MVP level product.

Marathon VC offers consulting services, HR and a business plan for the new Startup and aims to create Startups that will attract funding from international VCs, mainly from UK & USA at next rounds.

The Marathon VC team consists of George Tziralis, Panos Papadopoulos, Thalia Misailidou and Christos Gasteratos.
