Med-tech startup Meridda wins the Startup Europe Awards in Croatia

Meridda, the latest project made by the Croatian startup Studio Rebus wins the first prize as the best Health startup at the Startup Europe Awards Croatia that took place on November 15th in the Croatian city, Rijeka.

As a winner, Meridda will be presented at the Startup Europe Awards 2017, the greatest startup competition in Europe also known as “The Eurovision for Startups”, that will be held in Brussels at the beginning of the next year.

“We were very pleased to participate at this event”, said Tihana Petricevic, CEO & Founder at Studio Rebus/Meridda in her statement made for Superfounders.

“Also we were very glad for such an opportunity to present our project in front of jury and wider audience. Event which will happen in Brussels is huge responsibility and we are very proud to represent Croatia in the health care domain”. 

Meridda are wearable devices with advanced and personalized programs for stress and emotion management. They aim to help people to have better insights into their health, and help them identify and manage stress related problems more efficiently.

Mrs. Petricevic and her team have been working on this project for almost 2 years now, trying to create best hardware and software products that will address the negative side effects of stress on work, health and performance. The project is still in pre-lunch mode and the Merrida team is working rapidly on creating the first MVP.

Beside this award, this Croatian startup have also been selected as one of the best 500 European, early stage startups by Pioneers Festival in Vienna, Pirate Summit, Pioneers of the Balkan and Balkan Venture Forum.

Alongside Meridda, six additional Croatian startups were also awarded at the Startup Europe Awards Croatia. They are Terrible Creations awarded in the category Creative Startup; Tinja in the category Energy StartUp; LovePranks as best Tourism StartUp; Braille Riddles as Social StartUp; eter. Io as Cities StartUp; and Juvo Home Friend as ICT StartUp.

They will be joining Meridda at the Startup European Awards in Brussels competing with their peers from all over the Europe.

Briefly, Startup Europe Awards are promoted by the European Commission, Committee of the Regions, several members of the European Parliament and it is implemented by Finnova in collaboration with StartUp Europe.

The goal, according to the Startup Europe Awards (SEUA) website, is to identify local role models in each ecosystem of startups across Europe.

“The local entrepreneurs will become inspirational examples for the new generations that will have a positive impact on changing the entrepreneurship culture in Europe. All the same, the identified local successful entrepreneurs will be very useful for local authorities to define tailored programmes to invigorate their local ecosystems. Moreover, the winners might become gateways for external investors to be active in their local ecosystems. All in all, SEUA is an extremely useful tool to build the European ecosystem connecting local ecosystems across Europe”.
