Romanian Qualitance acquires SF-based LaunchPodium
Qualitance, a Romanian company specialized in cutting-edge IT technology, has taken over the San Francisco-based startup company LaunchPodium. The US startup provides online marketing consulting and it is the fourth startupfounded by the Australian serial entrepreneur Mike Parsons. Qualitance already operates both in Europe and the US. The company has a delivery center located in Bucharest, whereas sales offices are based in the Silicon Valley and New York.
Spin City App brings car sharing in Zagreb
Starting this week, the first car sharing application will be available in Croatia. Developed by Urban Mobility, the service provides users with cars for short rides. The car sharing service can be used by everyone who has a driver’s license and a smartphone.
Pirate Summit Skopje to Award a Wildcard for “Walk the Plank”
Pirate Summit Skopje is a startup event hosted and co-organized by Superfounders, taking place in the capital of Macedonia on June 20, 2016. It is a local chapter of the Pirate Summit Global program for 2016 that is connecting the local startup scene to international investors and mentors. The agenda of Pirate Summit Skopje includes a pitch competition in order to select the best team and provide them with two free-tickets to the Pirate Summit 2016 in Cologne.
DUMP team wins the $150k worth Shift hackathon [CRO]
These last few days Split was once more host to the Shift conference which culminated with the announcement of this year’s hackathon. IAppBuilder team, also members of DUMP, took the first place with their application AirCloud. They won $300 from Shift, $120.000 hosting credit from IBM and $1000 from Digital Ocean. The team Repsly Warriors won the second place for creating Careline.
SmartFood wins first place at Pacinno Demo day [CRO]
Smartfood took the victory on the second Demo Day organized by the Croatian Pacinno team , which was held in Rijeka Science and Technology park. All ten teams were part of Pacino’s startup education held in conjunction with the Rijeka Startup incubator. The winning project works on developing smart bacteria for early detection of colon cancer.
Romanian and Belgian investors launch new online real estate platform
A group of Romanian and Belgian investors specialized in e-commerce and IT development have invested EUR 500,000 in a new real estate platform dedicated to both individual and business clients. The new platform called Wizmo.ro targets property owners, real estate agencies and property developers, but also individuals and companies that are looking for property or land for rent or sale.
Kosovo opens 5 million euro plant for solar panels
German solar technology firm J.v.G Thoma together with Kosovan partner J.v.G. Jaha Energy has launched a solar panel plant worth more than 5 million euro ($5.7 million) near Kosovo’s capital Pristina, Jaha Energy said on Tuesday. The plant, which opened last week, has an annual capacity of 200,000 photovoltaic panels of 250 watt.
200 Second of Fame finalists – 12 teams take the stage at ICEEfest [ROM]
After analyzing the 20 startups that entered the short list, the jury could not pick only 10, so there will be 12 teams who will compete to conquer the world from 200 Seconds of Fame as part of the ICEEfest event. The participating teams have interesting products for different markets – marketing, healthcare, sales or productivity. Many of them have already gone through acceleration programs and acquired experience on stage.
Zelenoo – Serbian market for organic food won €50,000 in Austria [SRB]
Service that allows customers from Belgrade to order online organic and local food directly from small farms and manufacturers has received € 50,000 for expansion from the Austrian Agency ADA. For the first time, company that plans doing business in our market gets this investment, earning it by placing among 15 most successful in the competition in social entrepreneurship in Austria.
