Athlenda Enters the Final Circle for the HEA 2016

Athlenda has just entered the tight circle of top 10 finalists for the prestigious Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award 2016. This company, founded by Lazaros Papadopoulos, developed an international web platform that disrupts the way global athletes promote their skills and connect to sports scouts. Following a series of evaluation stages and processes, the business plan submitted by Athlenda has been nominated as a potential winner of HEA 2016, standing out from a record pool of 1,100 applicants. The final ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 1st in Athens, when the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos will announce between 1 and 5 winners of this year’s award.

The HEA provides Greece-based entrepreneurs with an opportunity to win a share of a total amount of €1,25 million in funding for their business idea. The funding is also accompanied with legal, accounting, marketing, IT, communication, and HR support services, as well as mentorship. This is the fourth year that HEA is pro-actively supporting entrepreneurship in Greece. Previous editions of this program have assisted a total of eleven companies so far. A number of new partners organizations have identified this program as a great way to come forward and offer their support to young and prospective companies.

“The increasing number of applicants for the Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award reaffirms our belief that entrepreneurship is key to the recovery and positive transformation of the economy. This year’s finalists are all examples of business proposals which reflect the values of sustainability and innovation, and we strongly believe in their future success which will, in turn, bring added value to our country and its economy,” – explains Jimmy Athanasopoulos, Chairman of the Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award.

Business ideas submitted by March 10, 2016 have been evaluated for their capability to demonstrate feasibility, innovation, sustainability, financial prudence, and job creation in the country. Based on these criteria, Athlenda is in line with 9 other companies that are just a step away from winning the HEA 2016.

“This nomination is a great honor and recognition for Athlenda, coming from a prestigious institution like HEA. Athlenda has been chosen as an idea that demonstrates innovation, sustainability, financial prudence and job creation. This nomination gives us all the right incentives to move faster and stronger towards that direction,” – announced Eugenia Zachariadou, Head of Marketing at Athlenda for SuperFounders Live.
